DidRead Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

Contact: privacy@didread.app

DidRead is a daily reading app. We keep this policy short because we collect very little. Here's what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

WhatWhy
Your Apple sign-in. A private ID from Apple, plus your email address if you choose to share it. Apple lets you hide your real email, and we never see your Apple password. To create your account and keep you signed in.
Your answers. What you write or pick in each exercise, with your feedback and results. To give you feedback and track your progress.
Your progress. Days practiced, streak, words read, reading time and how each skill is going. To pick your next read and show your progress.
Your "Say it your way" writing. To save it for you. It's private: it isn't scored, and it's never sent to AI.
Your settings. Your reminder time and time zone.To send your daily reminder at the right time and count your days correctly.
Basic app events, such as opening the app or finishing an exercise. To understand whether DidRead is working and fix problems.

We don't collect your location, your contacts, or your photos. We don't use advertising trackers.

How AI is used

When you write an answer in your own words, it's sent with the exercise to an AI service (currently OpenAI) to score it against our rubric and write short feedback. Only the answer and the exercise are sent, not your name or email. We use OpenAI's paid API, which, under OpenAI's policies at the time of writing, isn't used to train their models. OpenAI may keep requests for a limited time for safety monitoring. Multiple-choice and other tap answers are scored by the app itself and never go to AI.

Who else handles your data

We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or let anyone else use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete your account. When you do, your account, answers, progress and writing are permanently deleted from our database.

Your choices

Children

DidRead is meant for adults. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
